Describing the Batch in Three Words: Driven, Fun, and Sentimental
Driven. This word perfectly captures the spirit of Batch 2024. Each person is brimming with big dreams—whether it's starting their own businesses, pursuing careers abroad, entering new industries, or becoming doctors and lawyers. Their drive stems from a deep desire to achieve their goals, making them keen participants in FAME activities where they can learn from seasoned professionals who share the ME college experience.
Fun. Despite their ambitious nature, this batch knows how to have a good time! Whether it's bowling after class, running around campus, playing pickleball on weekends, or enjoying simple meals along Katipunan, they find joy in spending quality time with friends. Their ability to balance hard work with fun makes their journey even more memorable.
Sentimental. Just three months post-graduation, and they're already making nostalgic visits to campus! The sweet memories made at Ateneo are irreplaceable, prompting visits to MEA events like STEPS or catching up with friends at popular hangout spots. These sentimental moments go on to show the strong bond they share with the university and each other.
Reliving a Day: The MEA Ball Extravaganza
If there's one day they'd love to revisit, it's the MEA Ball! It was a night when everyone could finally let go of academic stress and simply enjoy themselves. This event not only served as a wonderful culmination of their years in MEA but also left behind unforgettable memories (even if some were a bit hazy!). As their journey transitions into the adult world, these shared experiences remain a testament to their camaraderie.
Campus Favorites: Matteo and JSEC
Matteo Ricci Study Hall. This spot was the go-to for meeting up with friends between classes, studying, or catching up on the latest “chismis.” It became a melting pot of MEAns from different batches, fostering a sense of community through shared academic and social experiences.
JSEC. Specifically, their beloved stall "JEFE" became a favorite haunt for many. With its bright red and yellow theme, it offered delicious biryani and refreshing lassis—a perfect combo for a break from campus heat. Hats off to Alexa Villareal, Trisha Tang, and Migo Lumawig for creating such an iconic spot!
Overcoming Challenges Together
Of course, no journey through ME is without its obstacles. For Batch 2024, Operations Research (OR) stood out as the toughest course, earning a reputation for its rigorous demands. However, this challenge was just one part of their arduous academic path. The transition from online learning during their first two years to tackling statistics in their junior year required immense adaptability. Senior year introduced the practical world via internship semesters, adding another layer of complexity.
What sets this batch apart is their incredible support system. They leaned on each other's strengths, offering tutoring sessions—whether formally or over casual study groups. Through shared laughter and memes, they kept their spirits high. Their appreciation for professors further underscored their resilience and gratitude.
Looking Forward: Diverse Paths Ahead
The future holds endless possibilities for the graduates of Batch 2024. Here’s a glimpse:
