For the final installment of our Valentine's series, we're spotlighting a couple whose love story began to unfold within the walls of Ateneo and continues to thrive today. Meet Dindo Medina and Peachy Cheng—two exceptional alumni who first crossed paths in 1986, grew together through the years, and are now sharing 28 years of marriage.
Their journey began as friends in the ME program, where both were active athletes—Dindo on the volleyball court and Peachy competing in basketball, track and field, and football. Their shared love for sports brought them together, but it was their deep connection as friends that laid the foundation for their lasting relationship. As they spent more time together, they discovered a unique synergy—being on the same wavelength in the way they thought and approached life.
Their bond only grew stronger as they navigated their college years, and in 1988, they officially became a couple. Both graduated in 1989 with their ME degrees, and their friendship and teamwork continued to flourish. In 1997, after years of growth and mutual support, they tied the knot and have been happily married for 28 years.
When asked how their relationship has evolved over the years, both Dindo and Peachy attribute much of their success to the strong foundation of friendship. "Starting as friends allowed us to be our true selves, without any shields," they share. This openness, coupled with a shared mindset and passion for their careers, has kept their connection strong. Their Ateneo community also played a role, as many of their friends, who were once part of their barkada, have also married each other, creating a network of solid, supportive relationships that continue to nurture their growth.
